A hydrogeological survey is an investigation of the hydrologic and geologic parameters at the subsurface level in a particular area. Hydrogeological maps may be formulated with the data gathered during such a study. It involves the detailed evaluation of the water-bearing levels of rocks and their capability for filtration. At HydroPoint Uganda we have a professional team of geologists who will do a detailed report.

Importance of Hydrogeological Survey
In Uganda Hydrogeological survey is mandatory before carrying out borehole drilling. A hydrogeological survey is done to determine the underground water level. Hydrogeological surveying is done prior to drilling a borehole in order to ascertain the quality and quantity of water available at a particular location.
The importance of hydrogeological survey include:
• Ascertain quality of water
• Know the depth of the water
Hydrogeological assessment in Uganda
Typically, the hydrogeological assessment comprises of the following:
Establish the needs of the end-user regarding the location and quantity of groundwater required
Nearby boreholes
•Evaluation of the quality of groundwater
•Appraisal of the catchment area
•Borehole construction and design recommendations
•Assessment of risk to health or environment
•The amount of groundwater that is anticipated from the given location
•Assessment of source, contaminant transport path
•Initial assessment of health and environmental risk

The Resistivity Method
At HydroPoint Uganda we use the Resistivity Method for the water surveying and siting of boreholes. Resistivity is the measure of the ability of a substance/matter to resist an electrical current. Resistance is measured in Ohms.
