Uganda having drought in most regions through the year, having your own borehole is a must. It helps you control your own water supply. Our team of professionals are willing to explain the cost of the borehole in Uganda and break the cost down to enable you to understand the final quote, our prices are highly competitive in the Uganda
.
Requirements of Borehole Drilling in Uganda
DWRM regulates the water drilling in Uganda. The Directorate licenses the drilling contractors and issues borehole drilling permits for drilling and water abstraction and collects data for the national groundwater database. Every year, between 1,000 and 1,500 boreholes are drilled in Uganda.
The requirements for borehole drilling in Uganda include:
• Doing a hydro geological survey
• Getting a permit from DWRM
Cost of Drilling Borehole Drilling in Uganda
The cost for one Borehole in Uganda normally ranges between Ugandan Shillings 20 million to 25 million which is dependent on the contractor’s reserve -price as well as the number of boreholes to be drilled,.
Prices for borehole drilling and siting
The price for siting and drilling a borehole refers to what the consultant and the contractor actually
spend on carrying out the job, whereas the price refers to what the contractor or consultant charges
the client. The price includes the profit, the costs does not include the profit. The cost however should
include overhead and depreciation. The clien
t therefore has to make budgets based on the anticipated
prices for the services of the driller and the consultants
The Procedure of Borehole Drilling in Uganda
The steps or process of borehole drilling in Uganda are:
• Hydro Geological survey
• Drilling and Installation
• Test Pumping and Piping borehole
• Water Collection
1.Geological Survey
A Geological survey or water prospecting survey accesses the geographical landscape and composition of the ground and ascertains the location at which the water drilling should take place.. The cost of geological survey is about Uganda Shilling 1 million
2.Drilling and Installation
Upon reaching the site, our team locates the area identified by the hydrogeologist as suitable for drilling.
The penetration continues until the drill reaches the required depth. The drill usually passes through a water-bearing formation as the drilling process continues. A casing of the borehole is usually done after the required depth is reached.
3.Testing
This stage is crucial as it conducts a chemical analysis of the water to determine is suitability for use. Test Pumping process is usually a 24-hour process.
4.Securing the borehole
We usually put Top Slabs and a cap on the borehole
5.Water Collection
As per the client requests, we can also put up steel/plastic tanks and a water tower along with the required piping.

Below is a general YouTube Video of Borehole drilling in Uganda
General Borehole Drilling Facts to Take Note :
• The exact depth, of where the water is located, cannot be established
• It is important to note that it is never a 100% guarantee that any hole will yield water.
• The risk of the borehole drilling lies with the property owner.
• The client will still be liable for the drilling costs irrespective of a borehole yielding water or not.
Equipping of the borehole in Uganda
Upon completion of the borehole, the pump installation can be planned.
General factors influencing the size of the pump to be installed will be the following:
•The clients’ water demand.
•The depth of the hole.
•Actual water yield of the borehole
•Depending on the geological formation, there should be a borehole rest period before the pump can be installed.
